Enjoy Lake Victoria Cruises in Uganda

April 10, 2019by admin0 comments

Uganda is gifted by the Lake Victoria which is the largest fresh water lake in the whole of Africa. This lake is also one of the important landmarks of Uganda. The fresh water lake has the source of the River Nile, the second longest River on planet earth!

Lake Victoria is shared by the three East African Countries i.e Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It is one of the best places to enjoy water sports.

Geologists believe the lake was formed through down warping during the time, the tectonic forces affected East Africa. It is believed that as the west and eastern parts of East Africa were being uplifted through faulting, the central parts underwent down warping resulting into the formation of a basin. Geologists also say that rivers that were flowing west and Eastwards reversed and started powering into Lake Victoria basin hence forming a lake. As more water entered the lake, it had to find a point from where it could get out.

The Lake Victoria offers many potentials for the development of aquatic tourism. Some water based activities have been developed on Lake Victoria and these include boat cruises, sport fishing, beach tourism etc. There are several beaches along its shores that have been developed in areas of Entebbe, Kampala and the Ssese Islands. While in Uganda, you can participate in one of the above mentioned activities to make sure that you add a marine activity to enhance your experience.

Enjoy Boat Cruises

Lake Victoria sunset cruises are not much developed but provide an opportunity to have some good time on the lake.  while exploring islands and features with in these fresh water lake. Lake Victoria Sunset cruises normally start at 4 or 5 pm and late evening. There are many service providers that organize sunset cruises on Lake victoria and if you have an evening before your go for your safari, Lake Victoria sunset cruises are worth participating in.
Where to Go:

Entebbe

Lake Victoria sunset cruises normally start from water front pier and go all the way through to crossing the Equator line, visiting several fishing islands and also citing some water birds along the way. Watch the fishermen cast their nets and enjoy the snacks and drinks provided on board thus giving you a nice evening experience on the lake.

Lolling lakeside are the gigantic hippos, very territorial they spend most of their days living in the water but at night rouse themselves out of their slumberous lethargy and stroll onto land to graze. Cast your eyes into the shimmering glint and you will spot crafty Nile crocodiles, as well as carnivorous Monitor Lizards and spotted-necked otters. Hear the cry of the stunning African fish eagle deftly sweeping across the glittering lake in search of a flash of slippery sliver. Cast your eyes into lush treetops where they can often be seen perched majestically in a lofty tree with the ideal view over the vast stretch of quivering water. Price is per person – subject to minimum numbers on board.

Entebbe sun downer cruise offers a true adventure on Lake Victoria.
